Hey guys, we received our monthly newsletter from our agency today and they seemed to be hopeful. Some of the other programs say things like 'the process is moving slowly. . .' or 'we are limiting new people to this program . . .' because of problems in the country. It would appear that despite our fears, the Guatemalan program is continuing fairly well. Here's what they said below. (COA is short for Council of Accreditation as America is going through the process of being part of the Hague Convention).
Guatemala: Adoptions are proceeding well as always. There are some additional delays with increased scrutiny by both countries. However, sources at COA and American Embassy tell us that they expect adoptions to continue uninterrupted.

It is looking good isn't it?!! I read a report from the Joint Council of Adoption in the US that stated they are working hard to keep adoptions open in Guatemala. Yeah!

It was funny on the department of state website because right in March there was all kinds of announcements being posted. Since then, not a word. Our Agency said it was mostly a political move. I think maybe they are right at this point. -- R&K
