On Monday of this week, we recieved seven pictures of the boys -- pictures that have had Ray and I captive since the moment we got them. Tuesday, from the miracle of overnight delivery service and the good will of one kind parent and our agency contact, we received 20 minutes of video of our sweet boys playing with a Mr. Potato Head we sent to them. Ray and I cry each time we watch it.
As he would quickly tell you, there is so much to be thankful for:
1) The boys are healthy and happy
2) They seem to love their foster mother
3) She seems gentle and loving with them
4) They seem very bright, inquisitve, creative, and playful
5) They seem well-behaved and mild mannered
6) They appear to be in good hands
It's a lot to be grateful for. In the video, the parent filming keeps having the boys say, "Hola, Mommy!" and "besitos," which I think means "kisses" and the boys blow kisses at the camera. It is heart-warming! And we can't wait to show you.
We also were fortunate enough to get 20 minutes of video of Guatemala City, Antigua, and the surrounding countryside. There's a tour guide in the background talking and it's interesting to listen and watch. The country is beautiful in so many ways.
Meanwhile, I wanted to tell you that we have been anxious about Edna, the 10 year old girl, who wanted to come to America. She has found a home with a family from Orlando, who's family is from Puerto Rico and who were also adopting from El Salvador. The agency says they are extremely nice and Edna was able to play in the hotel pool when she visited the hotel during the Agency's trip down this last weekend! :) Yay for Edna!
Meanwhile, the reality is that we are patiently (or not so patiently) waiting for Immigration Approval. Hurdle #2 of 4. We should hear from them by mid-July. Their approval means that we then move to Guatemala for their approval. It means that we can go see the boys. It means we've been given the "thumb's up" on the adoption. It's a big step and we could not be more eager for it. Keep us in your prayers as this waiting is definitely the hardest part.
Also -- we could not be more excited for friends of ours, D&K who just found out TODAY they are approved in Guatemala and will get their court date within 2-4 weeks to go down and get their baby, Conner. Hurray! I'm so happy for you both and riddled with envy. :) What a happy day!!
