Guatemala: Land of Eternal Spring

Just a little bit of trivia.

Ray and I read constantly of the political state of Guatemala and we are often dumbfounded by the abuses to personal liberties that we in America take for granted -- simple ideas such as feeling safe in a governmental building and trusting the police who are sworn to protect us. But in all of the heartache, there is such beauty that we want to make sure we remember and pass along to you as well. Below is a picture that was taken by Cloudbridge. This is actually a bird known as a Quetzal. It is the Guatemalan National Bird, and the bird for which was named the Guatemalan coins. During the days of the Maya, they were forbidden to kill this beautiful bird, but when the Conquistadores took over, the bird was widely attacked. Now the ban exists again and the bird is beginning to flourish.

Isn't it beautiful?

Go to Cloudbridge's webpage to read more about their natural reserve.
