US: So if we pay this money to Guatemala, you'll return that amount we have already paid you. Is that correct?
Them: Yes! No problem!
US: Good deal. When should we expect our money?
Them: We can send it to you immediately.
US: Alright, we've mailed the money to Guatemala. We're ready for your check!
Them: *silence*
US: Are you there? Can we get that money from you.
Them: Sure, sure. We have just been super-busy.
US: Okay, so when can we get that money?
Them: *the sounds of crickets chirping*
US: Are you there?
Them: Did we tell you we're busy? We have been on vacation!
US: Okay, so can we get that money now?
Them: *silence*
US: Hellllooooooo. . .
Them: *silence*
US: Hey guys? We really need that money. You said you'd give it to us. What's the hold up?
Them: *silence*
US: (8 months later) Alright, we're filing a complaint with the Florida Bar!
Them: *silence*
US: file, file, file
Them: Oh my goodness! Please feel free to let us know how best we can serve you. We'll gladly get this money to you. We just need some account numbers and we'll get that money wired to you asap!
Them: We haven't done it yet, but we will by the end of the week. We mean it!!
Them: We're going to do it today! We'll get that money to you!
tick tock tick tock.
I'm mostly just kidding around at this point. I really do think they are going to reimburse us and goodness knows the first $3,000 they have owed us since last October, and this last bit since April. We have definitely learned how to wait! And I am NOT ungrateful for God's handiwork in lighting a fire under their tails!! Still, it's been an interesting daily drama. What I'm most looking forward to re: the $$ drama? Feeling like we can breathe again and going to Walmart without bringing our calculator and our "needs only" list. I would LOVE some new nail polish!!
