Saying Goodbye: The Photos

In some ways, it is comforting being home. It's nice being able to brush my teeth from running water, and open the fridge to find my favorite goodies, and be surrounded by "home." Still, my heart is heavy, despite how much better our goodbyes went this second time in Guatemala. I miss my boys. My friend Emily Baas mentioned tonight that our counter is up to over 300 days in this adoption process. 300 days of waiting to have our children finally home with us. Anyway, here are the photos of our last hour together.
Mateo was quick to figure out how to make our video play on the computer and when Ray brought the boys up to the room, Mateo ran to the computer to watch us talking together as a family. He played it a number of times.
We tried to wait together a long time for the foster mother to arrive, so Daniel played with his "Mack" truck from the movie, "Cars."

Here's Mateo coming to give me a hug. He and Daniel are both so full of spontaneous love. He just climbed up in the chair and wrapped his arms around me, while Ray caught the moment on the camera.

Mateo is definitely athletic. He was keeping us a bit entertained doing handstands. He could even do them with one hand! I don't think I EVER managed doing those properly, even when I was little and much more limber.

Our sweet boys are so little. We always have to roll up their pants legs so they don't step on them while they play around. I just love this photo of Daniel's little toosh up in the air!

We walked the boys and the foster mother out to their pickup. The boys kept waving to us from the truck after many I love you's. Here's a snapshot of Daniel peering our from the back window saying goodbye again as the truck drove away.
The flight home went smoothly. And Ray and I rang in the New Year from the airport shuttle to the Green Lot. We're hopeful for good news this year. And, of course, we wish you all the very best in 2008!

Daniel in the pickup truck brought tears to my eyes.

I remember watching Sofia fade away down the street in a brown Sentra (no car seat OF COURSE!) and trying my hardest NOT to run after them!

PRAYING THEM HOME, Kelli! Hang tough girl!
