Day 1: Lots of Fun

Lunch went well as Daniel had just had a nap. He was sitting in a bit of a daze, so the meal was a little quieter and without the usual craziness! In the hotel restaurant, you can eat inside or outside by the pool. We ate outside, and you can see from the photo what a beautiful area it is.

Daniel did perk up after a while, and it was Mateo's turn for a nap. I was proud because he actually told me he was tired and asked for the nap! Wow, huh? (All kids probably do this, but since Daniel doesn't, it seems impressive to a first-time mommy).

After Mateo's nap, we headed to the pool (around 4pm here). It's a beautiful pool and you can order poolside fruit drinks with little umbrellas! The pool was interesting. We'd not tried it before and Daniel was too nervous to get in, but Mateo tried it and LOVED it. I think Daniel might be ready tomorrow. If not, we found a sandbox!
Here's Mateo and Daniel trying out the water!

Daniel never got in, but he loved lying on his stomach and touching the water!

Mateo was a little timid, but once he was ready, he was READY. Here he is showing off his trunks and the fact that he's standing in the pool!

Mateo is swimming!!

Afterwards they were both super-cold,
but were good enough to pose for a photo moment together!

Then came dinner. Two happy boys made for our first meal without spilling one single thing! I'm telling you -- take a first-time mom and two wild boys and we make a mess. This was our first successful meal of the trip! Look at these fun photos. Here Daniel and Ray wildly happy.

Mateo loves to squeeze me as hard as he can!

Lots of happiness in Guatemala! Below is "Un besito grande." Can you guess what that means?

Video 2: First time swimming in the pool!
Mateo even put his head under water!

Just FYI -- it appears that we could be out of PGN anyday. Our facilitator told us that it's possible that we could be out before we leave at the end of the week. I sure hope so. I also asked him if he thought we'd be able to bring the boys home by June or July and he said he thought it would be much sooner. I hope so, too! We'll see, but there are good things to look forward to.

Also, in other random news -- Mateo has itching somewhat like before so we bought some calamine lotion and it appears to be helping. Mateo has been good to tell us when it is bothering him. And Daniel may have a cavity in one of his back teeth. Poor baby. As soon as we know the boys are coming home soon, I'm going to get him an appointment with the dentist so he can get in quickly once he's home.

Ray and I are doing well; also FYI. It's just so good to be back in Guatemala and seeing our little guys. Plus we're looking forward to our trip into the countryside on Saturday. We miss you all and love you lots! Have a great evening!

Love, love, love all the photos! fyi- kids don't usually tell you they need a nap. The norm is that they tell you how much they don't need a nap- at least that's how it is with mine.

The pool looks like so much fun! I can't wait till you get the boys. Imagine taking them to the river. That will be so fun.
