Baking Day: A Family Tradition

Today was a hard day for me. I think a lot of the sadness that Ray and I have been feeling about the delays and uncertainty in the adoption process, were in suspension for the week as I went on teaching and doing church activities. This morning all the heartache resurfaced with a headache and to sum it up, it was a hard day to get through. But today was it's own adventure and I have the pictures to prove it. :)

Every year, my mother and her friend Pam, make Christmas candies. Fudge, rocky road, and chocolate covered cherries are the staples. This year, my sister Kim and I joined them, along with Melissa. The result was 6.5 hours of hard work and 729 (after we ate a few) pieces of candy! Not only that, but also we added layered mint fudge and chocolate-covered peanut-butter balls as well! Here are some photos from the day.

Here's the chocolate-covered peanut-butter balls. Don't they look dreamy?
Here's Melissa and I rolling chocolate-covered coconut balls.
Did I mention those earlier in the list?
Here's my sweet mom rolling the peanut-butter!!
Here's Aunt Pam and my sister working on the fudge!

Dipping the cherries with their secret-recipe cream is a multi-person task!

It's not a perfect shot, but we were really proud of the perfection that was the mint fudge!
Look at those layers! It really tastes as good as it looks! Andes mints better watch out!

Check this out! This table seats 10 normally and can fit 12 easily. That's a LOT of chocolate!!
