Feliz Navidad

Christmas, December 29: Feliz Navidad!!

This morning, I opened my eyes from one bed and immediately saw two boys quietly sitting with broad smiles looking right back at me. Kelli was in the other room, making last minute preparations for Feliz Navidad!

When we went into the other room, Christmas lights were strung across the top of the king size bed. Wrapped presents - with Kelli's special Christmas ribbon - were piled in the middle of the bed, flanked by two Christmas Teddy Bears. The boys yelled with delight, jumped onto the bed, and began tearing into the presents.

First there was Lightening McQueen, Tow Mater, and the Hudson Hornet. If you can believe it, the boys set to crashing them into each other.

Then came Hungry, Hungry Hippo. It appears that in Guatemala, one first gets the Hippo to eat the marbles in normal fashion, but then the contest becomes a test to see how many marbles can be shoved into the mouth of the Hippo. It is great fun!

I am not sure exactly what the other present was, but it involves Martian-looking creatures and magnets. The parts all came in a suitcase with a zipper. Mateo had a great time taking all the parts out and then packing them away again.

And, of course, we have video of the whole experience!

I am going to stop posting for a little while. It takes too long because I cannot get the layout the way I want it. Kelli does most of the posting by far! I will add some more in a little bit.

We're so relieved to hear that the boys are safe. I hope you can find out specifics that will make you all feel better about what is going on.

Cory and I got a big kick out of the Hungry Hungry Hippo description. Daniel and Mateo are so sweet!

Kelli & Ray,

We spent some time with Dr. R back in July and we have the UTMOST RESPECT for him. I can give you more details but I just wanted you to know that Sofia had 2 different foster families, too......

Brittiny and Tricia,

Thank you both so much for your sweet words. We're going to talk with our agency first -- simply because we were told the boys went into the new foster mother back in September, right after we saw them last, and no one told us! But we may, in fact, call Dr. R. Tricia, I really appreciate your insight into all of this. It was so disheartening, and the new foster mother didn't seem interested in talking to us, which made it difficult, as we suddenly had so many questions. Anyway, I could just keep writing, but thank you both. Really.
