Early to Bed, Early to Rise . . .

Tomorrow, Ray and I are up at 5:00 am to get ready for the big Embassy day!  We'll be waiting for our ride at 6:30 am, and we've been told that we're going to have a loooooong wait ahead of us since we're 15 & 16 on the docket.

But to recap before we head to bed, here's how this evening has panned out.

1)  We talked with our facilitator and we know how we're getting to the Embassy.  We brought a ton of papers, but hopefully we won't need any of them as our facilitator appears to have everything taken care of.  We got two HUGE folders of information about our boys including vaccination records and interviews from the court processes.  I can't wait to read through it all.

2)  The whole foster family dropped off Mateo and Daniel.  The foster mother, her mother, and her brother all showed up.  I think that was important for Mateo and Daniel and for us to see.  It was clear that some bonding had occurred.  The foster mother was teary-eyed and the brother was giving the boys high-fives.  The boys said goodbye fairly easily, but it was a bit harder for the foster mother.  I wasn't ever sure how much the bonded, but I think it demonstrated a bond that they all came out to say goodbye to the boys.

Mom, you had asked if the boys would come home with any of the items we'd left with them.  The answer is no (though Ray and I were not surprised).  I'm not sure what will happen to the clothes and books.  Hopefully, they're being used by people who need them.

3)  The boys were pretty tired and/or emotional pretty quickly.   Mateo had a spell during dinner when he was sniffling and Daniel had a hard time believing that we were finally a family forever.  They are so happy to be with us, but I think it's a lot to take in.  It's clear that we have a bond with the boys, but it's been an emotional roller coaster for them as well as us.  We had a pretty calm evening, in the hopes of an early bedtime for tomorrow.

Now for the pictures!
This was me showing Mateo pictures of his
bedroom and our house.  :)  He picked out his bed!  Little does Daniel know,
he's not getting the bed by the window!  :)
We played with some new toys!
Daniel found the sink.  That boys LOVES water!
Here we are at dinner and Mateo is playing
with a toy plane we bought for him in Atlanta.  I can't tell if the boys are
excited about flying or terrified.  They are so adventuresome, I think they'll love it,
but right this second, it's still hard to tell.
I have no idea what Daniel and I were talking about, but this picture doesn't surprise me at all.  He is full of mischievous faces!
This is us watching Toy Story 2!  Way fun!
You can see the sleepy looks in their eyes already.
Ahh . . . sleepiness.  I'm feeling it too, even though it's only 8:44 in Guatemalan Time.  (10:44 in the States).  Tomorrow is a BIG day!  Tomorrow the boys become US Citizens and we are a family forever.

Love and sweet dreams,
Kelli
