New Meanings to Old Expressions

A couple days back, I took these shots at our
church playground.  :)  I think the boys had a great time.

Okay, so this parenting thing is pretty hilarious as suddenly I am beginning to know what expressions people have used for a hundred years finally mean, or have at least learned a new twist of them!!!  I'm not even joking.

EXAMPLE #1
Ray and I had to drive to NC today because Ray had a meeting for his Exec. of Estate stuff and I just thought road trip with the boys would be better than tackling the day alone in the house.   But the boys were constant drama and every second they either needed me to see something, or I was needed to calm a squabble, get a toy or maintain some kind of order.  Turning around backwards in the seat was making me really sick and I told Ray:  I'M SICK AND TIRED!  Ha. Literally.  Sick.  Tired.
Ha.

EXAMPLE #2
We're having some troubles with the ways the boys express their anger/frustration/sadness/confusion/hurt/etc.  One of these more milder ways is that when I pick up a screaming child, he will grab my hair and not let go.  In the flurry, each always pulls two handfuls of hair out of my head apiece!  Now I understand when parents retort to their kids:  YOU KNOW I'M BALD BECAUSE OF YOU!
(Question.  I know kids often have cuts and bruises all over as they are learning their own boundaries, but I've never noticed: do the parents, too?

EXAMPLE #3
There was a point in the car ride when I had to drive (I was so nauseous with all that looking backwards stuff), but I didn't know where I was driving.  Ray had to climb into the back seat to maintain order regarding those irritating things called seatbelts, and he had to call directions out to me so I knew where to drive.  Ha!  A BACKSEAT DRIVER!

Anyway, life here is craaaaaaazy, and I'm learning my OWN boundaries!  EVERYONE is learning around here, I'm telling ya.  While we'd love to request your prayers (as they are needed!), I'd rather petition for my friend, Art.  You all may remember his bout in the ICU a while back when I was asking for prayers and right now, he needs every prayer he can get. He and his wife are wonderful people of faith, but we need them both for a long while yet. Please please please, keep them in your prayers.  (Thanks).

I totally understand what you mean by the expressions! We went to South Caroline for a long weekend and I ended up putting Tim in the backseat with Caroline because the turning around was making me so sick! It does get better though! We can now ride in the front seat with her in the back! :) Love the pics!!!
